Statement on the Georgia Senate voting down SB 114

The Committee for a United Atlanta wants to thank everyone who made their voices heard during the legislative debate on Buckhead secession.  Your support undoubtedly played a major role in the senate voting down that legislation.

However, we still have much work to do.  Many of the issues that drove this debate remain.  The Committee will continue to work with Mayor Dickens, the City Council, and our neighborhood to keep the focus on public safety, improving city services, and ensuring that city hall is listening to Buckhead residents and everyone throughout our city.

We especially want to thank Gov. Brian Kemp, state Senators Sonya Halpern, Jason Esteves, Josh McLaurin, John Albers, Frank Ginn and state Representative Betsy Holland, as well as the strong bipartisan coalition of Democrats and Republicans, for their leadership and support of keeping Atlanta united and focused on the challenges ahead.
